State/Territory catchment data infrastructure

Over recent years, State and Territory governments in Australia have moved towards establishing data infrastructures to provide better access to their comprehensive holdings of natural resource data (including water) that may be maintained by multiple agencies within their jurisdiction (Table 1). This recognises that State governments have largely held the constitutional mandate for water resource management in Australia, and that they have had the historic role in collecting and maintaining key water resource data.
